Comment updated December 7, 2014. We use a carafe Brita for many years to improve the taste of tap water and to reduce the scale of devices such as coffee machine and kettle. For my part, not finding the bad taste of the tap water, I do not attach importance to the decrease of the scale, the filtering Brita who, according to my experience, a significant effect for this decrease. The carafe Brita that we use up to this has an indicator showing the number (1 to 4) weeks elapsed since the installation of a filter cartridge, and indicating, at the end of 4 weeks, it's time to change the cartridge. Like many users, taking into account the price of each cartridge, I'm cheating by not changing the cartridge approximately every 2 months. I have not noticed any negative consequence of this "cheating" as on the effect of descaling on the effect of taste. I've not seen either of bellyache as a result of this elongation not advised of the duration of use. For example, if we filter 2 liters of water per day, considering the fact that Brita indicates that a cartridge can filter up to 100 liters, we can assume that the duration recommended will be extended to 50 days, or 7 weeks (if the water hardness has a value not too high). But, as the manual continues to recommend a change of cartridge every 4 weeks, I had my doubts in regard to the "authority" that could give the BRITA Meter to exceed 4 weeks. This duration of 4 weeks is now past: as I suspected the device requires a cartridge change exactly at the end of 4 weeks. However, in favour of this new model, I noted that one can take into account a period of time, for a period of time, the decanter, at a simple handling as indicated in the manual (page 14 terms and Conditions of use ideal). I don't know if this operation suspends or not the counting of the time of use.. Very beautiful, strong, go in the dishwasher... Perfect!
